The Beginning
In the early 1970′s, families and The Carroll County community began forming partnerships to establish services for our citizens with developmental disabilities. Recognizing the need and having the commitment, they worked together and developed a vision and made it a reality. The Carroll County Board of Health as an entity of State and County Government was chosen by community leaders as the contracting authority and the official governing board in 1972. The Board of Health continues to function in that capacity.
Families, The ARC, and the Community
Our greatest resource and biggest responsibility is to empower the partnerships between people with developmental disabilities, their families, and their community
Families joined together and through their advocacy, funding was secured from the county and the state to start The Carroll County Training Center. From that The Carroll County Training Center was formed.
The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities funds the Carroll County Training Center through a contract between The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health / Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases and the Carroll County Board of Health. This contract funds the services provided by The Training Center.
Through the years we have worked together to provide services and supports for people with developmental disabilities and their families.
